Greenwood Carving Series
Learn to carve greenwood, using traditional Scandinavian slöjd methods. This class will focus on the use of safe and efficient techniques with a slöjd knife (straight knife) and hook knife. Participants will learn to carve 3 kitchen utensils - chopsticks, spreader, spoon - over multiple class sessions, by building on skills and techniques learned in each session. The instructor will also cover topics related to reading grain in wood, orientation of the utensil within a log/branch, finishing techniques, and acquiring/maintaining tools. All levels of carving experience are welcome to experience this traditional art form and reconnect with your eating utensils. This class will meet 6:00-8:00 PM for 3 consecutive Wednesdays - April 10, 17, 24. Price - $95

Introduction to Greenwood Carving
Learn to carve a butter spreader and coat hook from greenwood, using traditional Scandinavian slöjd methods. Learning will focus on the use of safe and efficient knife grips and techniques with a slöjd knife (straight knife). The instructor will model each step of the process and assist participants through a discussion of finishing techniques. All levels of carving experience are welcome to experience this traditional art form and reconnect with daily household items. Price - $75

Group Session
Do you have a group of friends or co-workers who want to spend some time learning a craft together? Group sessions are a great way to customize your class experience to the wants of the group. Tell me what you’re thinking and let’s make it happen. Group size may be limited to 5-7 participants, dependent on the content of the class session.

Individual Session
Have an idea you need guidance to execute? Looking for feedback and instruction on your current techniques? Maybe you just prefer to learn without a group. Individual sessions are a great way to get a one-on-one experience dedicated to your specific needs. These sessions are open to many different possibilities, including content from other classes or a customized experience.

Beginner Greenwood Spoon Carving
Learn to carve a spoon from greenwood, using traditional Scandinavian slöjd methods. The instructor will model and assist participants as they rough out a spoon from a pre-axed blank as well as guide them through a discussion of finishing techniques. All levels of carving experience are welcome to experience this traditional art form and reconnect with your eating utensils. Price - $65

Beginner Greenwood Spoon Carving
This one-day class will focus on the process of turning a billet of greenwood into a hand carved spoon. Participants will learn the techniques used to design the spoon shape, axe out the spoon blank, rough out the spoon shape, apply finishing cuts, and protect the piece. Each participant will learn safe techniques for using a carving axe, greenwood saw, slöjd knife, and hook knife. Space for this class is limited to 5 participants, but auditing is available. Price - $70, includes lunch
